Using a custom domain on Blogger makes your website look professional, builds trust, and helps with branding and SEO. Instead of using a default Blogspot URL like example.blogspot.com, you can use your own domain like example.com.
In this guide, Iโll explain How you can Setup a custom domain to your Blogger Website step by step, in simple words. I recommend you to follow the video added below.
What Is a Custom Domain?
A custom domain is a unique web address that you purchase from a domain registrar. It comes with a yearly subscription generally cost in between $5 – $20.

- Default Blogger URL: Key2Blogging.blogspot.com
- Custom domain: Key2Blogging.com
Your content stays the same. Only the web address changes.
Why Use a Custom Domain on Blogger?
By using a custom domain in website, User can easily remember the Website address and find you online pretty easily.
A custom domain also helps a website stand out and doesn’t look spammy and helps increase the trust. It also helps in Website branding and chances of ranking high in Google increases.

Step 4: Copy CNAME Records from Blogger
After clicking Save, Blogger will show an error. This is normal.
You will see two CNAME records.
What is a CNAME Record?
A CNAME (Canonical Name) is a type of DNS record that links one domain name to another domain name instead of an IP address.
Example:
- You tell your domain provider: โWhen someone opens www.myblog.com, send them to Blogger.โ
Copy both CNAME records exactly as shown.
Step 5: Open DNS Settings of Your Domain
Login to your domain provider account.
Look for options like:
- DNS Management
- DNS Settings
- Zone Editor
This is where we connect the domain to Blogger.
Step 6: Add CNAME Records
Add the two CNAME records you copied from Blogger.
| Type | Name | Destination |
| CNAME | www | ghs.google.com |
| CNAME | Random Code | Random Code from Blogger |

Note: The second CNAME is unique for every blog. Copy it carefully.
Step 7: Add A Records (Very Important)
What is an A Record?
An A record points your domain to an IP address.
We add these so that:
- yourdomain.com
- www.yourdomain.com Both work properly.
Add these four A records: To redirect your readers from โmydomain.comโ to โwww.mydomain.com,โ
| Type | Name | IP Address |
| A | @ | 216.239.32.21 |
| A | @ | 216.239.34.21 |
| A | @ | 216.239.36.21 |
| A | @ | 216.239.38.21 |
Also, make sure to check the redirect option is enabled on your Website. ( As shown in the attached screenshot)

Step 8: Save DNS Settings and Wait
After adding records:
- Save changes
- Wait for DNS propagation
What is DNS Propagation?
DNS propagation means the time taken for changes you make in your domainโs DNS settings to spread across the internet. When you update things like an IP address or nameservers, different DNS servers around the world need time to refresh their stored data (called cache).
Because these servers update at different speeds and follow a set time limit (TTL), the changes are not instant. In most cases, it takes a few hours, but sometimes it can take anywhere from 24 to 72 hours for everyone to see the updated information.
In short, DNS propagation means the time taken for domain changes to update worldwide.
- Usually takes 10 minutes to 24 hours
- Sometimes up to 48 hours
Step 9: Save Domain Again in Blogger
Go back to:
Blogger โ Settings โ Publishing โ Custom Domain
Click Save again.
If everything is correct, your domain will be connected.
Step 10: Enable HTTPS (SSL)
Blogger provides free SSL.
- Go to Settings โ HTTPS
- Turn on HTTPS Availability
- Turn on HTTPS Redirect

Your site will now open with: https://www.yourdomain.com
Common Errors and Fixes
Domain Not Working
- Check DNS records again
- Wait longer for propagation
